Over the years, towns across America have implemented One Book, One Community campaigns, where thousands were engaged in reading the same book during a specified time period. Governor Jeb Bush has requested that communities throughout Florida consider adopting this project since establishing reading as a core value in this state is the number-one goal of his administration. Visit the Just Read, Florida! web site.

One Book, One Community~Ormond Beach, is a new, joint effort of the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce and the City of Ormond Beach. The main goals are to promote reading, spark discussion about Ormond's rich history, and build community people.

The book selected, The Mystery at Hotel Ormond, by author Marian Strong Tomblin, will provide a means of presenting local history to our youth and encourging conversation between the generations.

Readers, especially middle school-aged, will be drawn into the tale of a 14-year old heroine's efforts to solve a family mystery. The story is infused with an appreciation for local history.

Copies of the book may be purchased for $9.50 at the Ormond Beach Chamber
of Commerce, 165 West Grandada Boulevard (view other locations). Discussion event information will be forthcoming from the Chamber of Commerce (386) 677-3454.
