Bull on the Beach!

Bull on the Beach!

Is chock-full of lore you've (probably) never heard of before. Already know about the TOMOKA LIGHTS? Well, how about Daytona's mysterious LADY IN BLACK? Or DILLINGER'S visit to the World's Most Famous Beach?

Included is Stephen Crane's world-famous short story, THE OPEN BOAT. Why? Find out!

Sample Chapter:

Dillinger 'n' Daytona

John Dillinger, the infamous (and deadly) bank robber, spent Christmas of 1933 in a rented beach house in Daytona. Yep, that Dillinger. Ditto, that Daytona. After a spectacular November robbery in Racine, Wisconsin, Dillinger, his gal Billie, and various members of his gang, headed south to Florida to warm up while their trail cooled off.

Ask the right local and he can tell you about the night the Daytona police were alerted to the sounds of gunfire on the beach. Seems Mr. Dillinger wanted to see what a machine gun would do to a sand dune. Rat-a-tat-a-tat! When the policeman arrived at the scene (and most likely alone and on a bicycle since this was during the depths of the Depression) and came face to face with the outlaw and his smoking machine gun, all he could do was ask Mr. D. to "Keep it down" and get away as fast as his legs could carry him!

Shortly after their Florida vacation, the gang was rounded up in Tucson, Arizona, tried, and imprisoned. Later, Dillinger made his legendary escape using a wooden gun that was smuggled in to him.
